What is Maga Ransomware?
The malware analyzed by White Defender, which researches and develops ransomware security, is Maga Ransomware.
MAGA is a ransomware from the Dharma family that encrypts file data and changes the extension to make it unusable.
MAGA renames file data by appending the user’s “8-digit personal id key”, “email address”, and the “.MAGA” extension.
For example, the file “download.jpg” will be renamed to “download.jpg.id-8-digit personal key.[MAGA24@cyberfear.com].MAGA”, and “sales.xlsx” will be renamed to “sales.xlsx.id-8-digit personal key.[MAGA24@cyberfear.com].MAGA”.
Once this attack process is complete, a ransom note is displayed in a pop-up message, and a ransom note with the title “MAGA_info.txt” is created in every directory.
